At the ZWT, a team of pathologists and IT experts are working in a research project of the the Diagnostic and Research Institute of Pathology of the University Hospital Graz (Prof. Zatloukal) on digitising samples from the Biobank of the Medical University of Graz with unique high throughput scanners. The project is being implemented by the Medical University of Graz in cooperation with international market leaders in the field of digitisation. Around 2,500 archive samples can be processed per day with 11 different scanners. The ZWT is the ideal location for this project because with the Biobank of the Medical University of Graz – one of Europe’s biggest biobanks – as well as the seat of the European Research Infrastructure for Biobanking Company BBMRI-ERIC and the Austrian node BBMRI.at, a concentrated load of biobanking expertise is bundled at one location.
