Diagnostic & Research (D&R) Center for Human Genetics

The Genetic Counselling Center of the Diagnostic & Research Center for Human Genetics at the Medical University of Graz is settled at the ZWT. Several thousand consultations take place each year – for example, for pregnant women who want to know if their babies have a hereditary disease or people who have a family history of certain diseases or characteristics wanting to know if the cause is genetic.

The diagnosis is primarily based on a blood sample and, if necessary, other tissues are examined as well.
